A Bit About Me…….

Thanks to the great idea of my husband, Danny, I decided to get my own website to share all of my interests and photos with mainly family and friends but also whoever wants to check out whats going on in my life.

I have tons of things i plan to blog about. I love photography and so alot of my posts will be accompanied with loads of pictures. I photograph EVERYTHING!

Nature photography is my favorite, I can’t think of anything more inspiring as a subject. I’m always stopping along my way taking pictures of a beautiful scene. To me, the world is at its most beautiful right before a storm and that is what inspires me. Screw a sunny day

I’m a huge food lover and am starting to somewhat enjoy cooking again (take out is so much easier, but really expensive and unhealthy when you do it for every meal). So I’ll be posting some of my creations as well as my favorite food that others have prepared along with any recepies that I think would be worth trying out.

Gardening is another fun hobby that I’m getting better at. I should say “indoor gardening”. I love potted plants indoors , so I dont have to go outside and water them in the heat or cold (and because a house is homier with a few plant friends hanging around). So far I have a few in the kitchen and my collection is slowly growing. I have a Jade plant (that I need to work on not overwatering), a ficus, and my newest addition, a Christmas cactus. I’d definately say that the best plants for beginners are something hardy like a ficus or some kind of succulent. They don’t require that much care, so they stay beautiful with minimal effort.

Traveling is another thing I enjoy but don’t get to do too much of since I’m a poor college student lol The husband and I will take an occasional trip to New Orleans since we live so close , to the occasional concert, and to visit family during the holidays. We basically take small local trips. We are all about getting to know the surrounding areas of our city. There are so many cool places to find by just going out and driving around. Once we’re done with school we definately will take the time to travel a bit before we start our family.

I am a college student, as I said, and I LOVE school! I’m just in my A.A right now (going to get my B.A in Elementary Education) , but there are alot of interesting things to take within Humanities and Human and Physical Science. Those categories have been my favorites so far. College is a huge part of my life right now and with each class I take I gain new perspective and knowlege that I love to share! I hope to go far in the Education field (my career and my personal Education). I would love to get my Doctorate someday and go beyond just teaching. But lets just focus on that B.A for now! With working full time and going to school part time, it takes quite a while, but I’m having fun along the way

I love love love science and I hope to teach it to kids some day and help otheres fall in love with it like I did as a kid. I am by no means a scientist, obviously. BUT I have been fascinated by astronomy and meteorology since childhood. I remember reading all the science books my parents had in the house and studying all the pictures of the planets and tornadoes. When the book fair came to my school, kid’s science books were what I went for (and baby sitter’s club books, of course I am a girl afterall). Science was always my favorite subject in school. I loved all the great projects and lessons and it has stuck with me into adulthood. So far I’ve taken Astronomy in college and I plan to take Meteorology as an elective for my A.A.

I am an animal lover to my core. Mr. Jax (Greyhound), Lou Lou Dog (Greyhound), Squeaker (Cat), and Mocha Bear (Cat) are my family, period. There will be no shortage of blogs dedicated to them and to animal rights. “Animals are the best people”. One of my goals is to donate my time and extra money to helping animals. We adopted our beautiful boys from the Greyhound Pets of America and I couldn’t be more inspired by what these people do for retired racers. The adoption experience was the best and each year we visit the organization and other greyhound parents for many planned events. Its always a fun time seeing everyone with their greys (these hounds are great at bringing people together). I feel there is so much that I can contribute to helping animal causes and I hope when I have kids someday, I can instill the same love and respect for animals as I have.

And finally a word about my non-furry family. Its just the husband and me so far for our little family. We’re 25 and 26 years old. Kids won’t come along for about another 5-10 years from now, but I look forward to it all the time. To my friends and family I am a broken record in saying that I won’t feel like an “adult” until I’m over 30, have my B.A and am in my career. Thats when I’ll feel prepared and thats when we’ll have kids. In the mean time my very best friend in the world has two beautiful kids who are always a blast to spoil and my sister (younger sister, no less lol) is expecting her baby in June 2012.
